Colleagues, when the auditors informed me that the retroactive application of the travel rules was the result of advice from Senate staff and the steering committee, another committee member asked whether or not the auditors had, as required under the provisions of the Standard Practices for Investigative and Forensic Accounting Engagements for the IFA and the CICA of Canada issued in 2006, substantiated the standards in an independent way and determined independently that those were the standards that applied.
