(2) If each of the persons to whom a notice is sent under subsection (1) serves a notice on the Minister under that subsection that they elect to accept the abandonment, the Minister may cause a notice of abandonment of the expropriated interest or right or the remainder of the interest or rights, as the case may be, to be sent to each of those persons and to the Attorney General of Canada, who shall immediately confirm the abandonment by causing the notice to be registered in the office of the registrar where the notice of confirmation was registered.

(Return tabled) Question No. 367 Mr. Claude Gravelle: With regard to abandoned oil wells: (a) what is the government's position on the reclamation of abandoned oil wells in Canada; (b) how many abandoned oil wells exist in Canada and where are they located; (c) how many abandoned oil wells have been reclaimed since 2000 by year, broken down by location, date of reclamation and cost of reclamation per well; (d) what is the estimated cost to secure and reclaim all outstanding abandoned oil wells; (e) what oversights are in place to ensure Canadians are not negatively impacted by these abandoned oil wells; (f) what are the titles of the studies or reports done by or on behalf of the government that cover, in whole or in part, the subject of abandoned oil wells in Canada; and (g) which federal or provincial agencies are responsible for covering the costs of well reclamation?

12. Urges the Canadian Government and the US Administration to abandon their retaliatory measures on EU imports in response to the EU’s ban on hormone-treated beef and to accept mounting scientifical evidence showing that the hormones used in beef production - such as Oestradiol 17 beta - are carcinogenic and genotoxic, and thus pose unacceptable risks; urges the European Commission to appeal against the ruling handed down by the WTO in this case on 30 March 2008, which allows the US and Canada to force hormone-fed beef on Europe;

(b) where there is no such agreement, no more than the net salvage value of the line or segment, as determined by the Agency (5) If, pursuant to an order under subsection (3), a main line or segment operated by one railway company is transferred to another railway company (a) the railway company that operated the line or segment ceases to have any obligations under this or any other Act of Parliament in respect of the operation of the line or segment; (b) if the railway company to which the line or segment is transferred is within the legislative authority of Parliament, (i) that railway company shall be deemed to have assumed all the obligations under this or any other Act of Parliament in respect of the operation of the line or segment, and (ii) the line or segment shall continue to be a main line for the purposes of this Division, even though it is a subsidiary, secondary, local or feeder line of that railway company; (c) if there is, at the time of the transfer, an agreement between the railway company that operated the line or segment and VIA Rail Canada Inc. in respect of the operation of a rail passenger service on the line or segment, (i) the rights and obligations under the agreement of the railway company that operated the line or segment in respect of the operation of that service vest in the railway company to which the line or segment is transferred and continue, as amended by agreement between VIA Rail Canada Inc. and the company to which the line or segment is transferred, until the operation of the line or segment is abandoned or the operation of the service is discontinued, and (ii) the line or segment is hereby declared to be a work for the general advantage of Canada; (d) where the railway company to which the line or segment is transferred is not within the legislative authority of Parliament and there is not at the time of the transfer an agreement described in paragraph (c) in respect of the line or segment, any declaration that the line or ...
