First, it is our opinion that the Parties to the Convention should improve their internal coordination as regards combating desertification, by taking a more integrated approach to this issue as a whole. As the honourable Member mentioned, ministers for the various sectors often adopt domestic measures without previously agreeing on the objectives to be attained, so that decision-making is rather ad hoc and random.
Premièrement, les parties présentes à la convention devraient améliorer leur coordination interne en ce qui concerne la lutte contre la désertification en privilégiant une approche davantage intégrée face au problème en tant que tel. I can only say that if the Liberal Party is so adamant on this issue of changing the definition of marriage, they should do so through the front door and they should do it as a public policy issue separate from the issue of same-sex benefits.
