Well I would like to tell you that for my group, the Group of the European Peoples’ Party (Christian Democrats) and European Democrats, this is a very important issue and that, given that foreign policy is something for governments rather than for peoples, for princes rather than peoples, as the old saying goes, we in this Parliament want control over the Union’s foreign policy.
Je voudrais vous dire que pour mon groupe, le groupe du parti populaire européen (démocrates-chrétiens) et des démocrates européens, il s’agit d’une question très importante et que, étant donné que la politique étrangère est du ressort des gouvernements plutôt que des peuples, des princes plutôt que des peuples, comme le dit le vieil adage, nous, les députés de ce Parlement, nous voulons avoir un contrôle sur la politique étrangère de l’Union.
