Mr. Speaker, while we celebrate the independence of South Sudan, this should not obscure the triangular threat and assault by the Khartoum government, including the onslaught against the Nuba Mountain people in South Kordofan; the invasion of Abyei, with the denial of its independence and the driving out of the Dinka African tribe; and the attacks on the Blue Nile; the whole with a view to creating a new north-south border incorporating the southern oil fields in the north, while the violations in Darfur continue unabated.
Monsieur le Président, nous célébrons l'indépendance du Soudan du Sud, mais cela ne doit pas nous faire oublier la triple menace que fait peser le gouvernement de Khartoum, soit le nettoyage ethnique des Noubas, au Kordofan méridional, l'invasion d'Abyei assortie du refus de son indépendance et de l'expulsion de la tribu africaine Dinka, ainsi que les attaques sur le Nil Bleu. L'objectif global est de redéfinir la frontière nord-sud de manière à intégrer au Nord les champs pétrolifères du Sud, sans compter que les violations qui ont lieu au Darfour se poursuivent sans entrave.
