What the government is attempting to do, as I said yesterday, is what previous governments should have done a long time ago; namely, put the Canada Pension Plan into a state whereby it can continue to be the best government pension plan in any country in the world; a plan under which our children and our grandchildren will not have to pay prohibitive premiums in order to have the benefits and assurances that they would like to have by way of a pension plan for the future.
Comme je l'ai dit hier, le gouvernement essaie de faire ce que les gouvernements qui l'ont précédé auraient dû faire il y a longtemps, c'est-à-dire faire en sorte que le RPC puisse continuer d'être le meilleur Régime de pensions au monde, un régime où nos enfants et nos petits-enfants n'auront pas à verser des contributions trop élevées pour leur pensions futures.
